Retreat!

Spineless.

David Neiwert on the resignation of White House environmental policy adviser Van Jones after pressure from the likes of Glenn Beck ... yes, that Glenn Beck:

If President Obama and Rahm Emanuel think that letting the Fox crew drive out his appointees is going to help him win his legislative battles -- this was clearly the product of a White House more intent on trying to get its health-care reform package passed than dealing with the larger, more pervasive problem that threatens not just health-care reform but all of his initiatives -- he is sadly and badly mistaken.

I don't know what to make of these guys, particularly Obama, anymore. Well, I can guess where this is headed based on the trail of blood, but it's still discomforting.

I hate to do this (and never thought I would have to), but I wonder how Hillary would've handled all this? She's used to this crap from the Right. Then again, there's no proof that she would be anymore a stalwart for progressive reforms than Obama. Ugh.
